Tibi Swimwear 2010 @ Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim Miami

Let's talk runway. I'm Christine Ong here for CASHAK.TV and next up we have New York based Tibi Swimwear with their 2010 collection debuting at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami. The swimmer line launched in 2008 and it's 2010 swimmer collection is inspired by the island of Bali. We asked the designer Amy Smilovic what aspect of Bali inspired her the most and she said quote- "the bright colors, local florals and the unique batik prints." Batik prints are made of flower and leaf designs and sometimes the prints have patterns with geometric lines and silhouettes. So we asked the designer what makes New York swimwear better? And she says the swimwear created in New York has a stronger fashion element when compared to brands from other parts of the country. Celebrities seen wearing Tibi include Scarlet Johansson, Liv Tyler and Drew Barrymore. It's sold at the Tibi boutique in SoHo and 500 specialty shops, plus major department stores. The swimwear is priced at $70 on up and trends that we're seeing in this collection batik prints muted ocean colors and high fashion style.

First up, deep orange color seen in an ocean sunset, rushed bandeau top with silver rectangle hardware joining the two sides, bikini brief bottoms with matching hardware on the hips, so we asked the designer the million dollar question what makes a swimsuit sexy? She answers quote- "the cut on the thigh and the scoop on the bust. You never want to show too much skin but just enough to be mysterious."

Fashion forward one piece in medium purple, off the shoulder with a pointed cut out, shoulder cuts like this are seen at high fashion designs, bottom is at the top of the hip. We ask the designer for her best advice on selecting a swimsuit and in one word she said, comfort quote- "if you don't feel comfortable in what you are wearing you really won't pull it off no matter how good you look".

Island inspired print in a halter bikini top, tropical leaf silhouettes, muted shades of purple and lavender, Brazilian bikini bottoms with side ties. CASHAK.TV's editors select this outfit as the best of the collection for its skimpy top, sexy bottoms and fashion savvy accents.

Hip hugging boy short bottoms, zigzag print laced up string on sides, the side details give a sporty vibe to this look, matching print bandeau top. We asked what are the perfect accessories for your swimwear, the designer said Tibi beach bag, Mui Mui sandals, Tom Ford sunglasses and of course SPF 30.

Large hoop earrings, light gold ornaments dangle from the bottom, batik print halter top, white tan and aqua colors, metal wrist cuffs add a high fashion flair. The designer says this collection was created for the Tibi Girl, someone who loves to stand out in a fashionable way, someone who is fun, flirty and sophisticated.

Cover up semi-transparent, twisted white shoulder straps, short in length. Throw this on before heading to the boutiques Kuta Square.

Last up we see this vibrant print and pink lavender and faded green, halter cut, supportive under the bust band, complimenting low rise brief bottoms. The designer creates all of her own prints and she says traveling in Asia influenced her patterns.
